| 6 June 2000I've restructured the Cascading Stylesheets and made a number of modifications in order to fix the Netscape problem (Netscape browsers were not displaying pages properly in some cases; in other cases they were crashing). The site still looks better under Internet Explorer, but everything appears to work properly under Netscape. It appears as though Netscape either ignores or incorrectly interprets some of the CSS specifications. 29 May 2000Lots of feedback on the Netscape problem. I really am trying to fix it. 16 March 2000I've restructured the site a bit, adding a "Features" section which includes the FAQ, G-Whiz information, and the current Photo Critique. Also updated gallery pages for John Bardwell and T. Scott Carlisle. 7 March 2000We've decided to change the format of the G-Whiz weekends. They will occur monthly (the first Saturday and Sunday of each month), and alternating months will be thematic. 25 February 2000I've added another "Reader Input" section, this time on Processing Labs, at the request of a member of the editorial staff. I have in mind several other of these informal surveys, such as on filters, favourite lenses, and so forth. 8 February 2000By the way, I'm not going to record every single modification that occurs here; for example, the Photo Critique page is updated every Monday. What I will document in this log are changes in the basic function of the site. Today, for the first time, I added the ability to comment on an article (Robert Bumb's Lens Performance). These comments are saved and also emailed to the list. I've come to recognize that one reason for the success of this site is the "synergistic" relationship between the mailing list and the site. The site supports the list, and the list drives activity on the site. It's a nice combination. The front page now uses Dynamic HTML. This is an attempt to spice things up a bit and draw attention to certain parts of the page; for example, the "Updated" section in the menu bar to the right of the page. I have not received any comments on the use of Dynamic HTML, so I presume it's not causing problems with anyone else's browser. 28 January 2000I've modified all the Gallery pages so that comments are now emailed to the contaxg mailing list. 24 January 2000The site has been successfully transferred to http://contaxg.com. In addition, I've added a new Gallery page for T. Scott Carlisle, updated the pictures on my page, and updated the photo submission guidelines. |
