The four transparencies were taken Saturday morning, G-Whiz weekend,
with a Contax G2 camera and 45mm lens, using available light, aperture f4
& shutter at approximately 1/125 second. Film was Kodak E200.

| "Topsy Toddler
Photographer": My favorite subject- my son MUST have his own
camera when I'm snapping away. His is an old non-functional Konica
C35. It's been dipped in soup and dropped on hard tile floors, but
the RF still works!. |
"Tennis net": FINALLY- a
free court opens up at the public courts, late November in Boston...
|
"Into the Playhouse": No
comment here, just a fun moment. |
"Sailor's Delight" : Red sky
at night, sailor's delight. I took this from the driver's seat while
driving down Beacon Street in Boston rush hour traffic. Not an easy
task with the prevalence of the kamakazi approach to driving so
prevalent in Boston. Do not try this at home. |

| Sunday morning, I began my
walk in Madrid with my dog-friend Sega. This is the underground
entrance. You can see the new 007 movie poster. G1, 45mm Planar, f8,
Fuji Provia 100. |
Reaching the park, you can
clearly feel the light and the colors of the autumn (in US you say
fall, am I right?) I had the 21mm on the camera, so I got very close
under this tree... and felt that special light!. G1, 21mm Biogon,

I have always liked this
statue very much. This is the "Fallen Angel", the unique
statue in the world dedicated to "that angel expelled from
heaven". G1, 90mm Sonnar, f5.6, Fuji Provia 100. |

The weather stayed cast during all the GWhiz
week-end here in Lausanne. So saturday looked like the pefect day to
try the brand new kit of strobes I've just got from Multiblitz.. It
would have been better to operate with the Nikon FE and its macro
zoom.. but since it was GWhiz week-end I used the Contax G; with the
90mm set at F22 and 1/200e. |
A Grayish Mysty Sunday
On saturday, the weather hadn't improved.. I waited
untill the end of the afternoon and drove to the lakeshore hoping for
an opening of the sky. (still the 90mm lens) |
Man With Dog
The colors were mute, grey and muddy... the lake was
almost still.. but for two or three persons, the usually animated
shore was pretty empty. Down, right along the water, a man was playing
with his dog. |
Pier With Walking Couple
The weather was cold (around 6 degree C), my hands
where freezing and the battery stopped working just after I spotted
the young walking couple on the pier.. Mmm. the GWhiz week-end was
over and in a diary I'd just note "c'était un dimanche comme un
autre". |

On Sunday afternoon I went over to the Smith-9th Street
area in Brooklyn, by the Gowanus Canal. The bridge has been closed seems
like forever, and a new bridge has been erected under the subway viaduct.
This is the kind of stuff I like to shoot, so I took a stroll with a G2 and
45 and 90. The 'Eagle Clothes' sign was shot with the 90, the others with
the 45. All in full idiot mode.

| First Snow
G2, 45, TMY EI 800. My 5 year old niece was
visiting from Hawaii and had never seen snow, so we ran all the kids
up to Snoqualmie Pass for some cold fun. I metered a rock wall
and locked exposure. My daughter is the one without the tan. |

G-Whiz Sunday I took the camera and started walking towards downtown
Copenhagen hoping that something of interest would turn up. Maybe it did and
maybe it did not. I ended up windowsshopping in low light. All pictures have
been shot with handheld camera. I got the chance to try Fuji Reala against
Fuji Superia 400. And I can hardly see the difference.

| Wood Study
Camera: G2
Lens: 45mm
Filters: None
Film: Astia 100 at 100 ISO
Tripod: Bogen 3401B with RRS Quick release
Location: White Sands National Monument, New Mexico, USA
Exposure: Auto- F11 at 1/180 (+1 compensation)
Focus: I focus locked on the vertical trunk and recomposed.
I got out early on Sunday morning to capture some
images from one of my favorite haunts (white
Sands) and shot 1 roll of Astia 100. I have found that Astia does
marginally better than K25 or Velvia at recording the subtle
shades and patterns that I frequently find at the "Sands".
I normally open up my lens a full stop to accommodate
the bright light sand background. However, with
this roll I have found that even opening the
lens a full stop is not quite enough , and will try 1 2/3 the next
time I shoot Astia here. The exposure level seems very
good in this image, but I think this was true
because there is more wood in the image than
sand. I noticed my speed drop down from 1/250 of the previous photo.
I also normally shoot F8, but I am trying for a
little more depth of field since I don't
anticipate blowing these images up to very large sizes.
Shooting the Sands is a photographers delight. You
can just walk around looking for likely subjects
and plunk the tripod down for a solid set in the
sand. The light can vary greatly, but early morn and evening are, of
course, ideal. Occasionally we get high overcast which
makes all day shooting very possible. |
Old Woman
Camera: G2
Lens: 28mm
Filters: None
Film: Astia 100 at 100
Tripod: Bogen 3401B with RRS Quck Release
Location: White Sands National Monument, New Mexico, USA
Exposure: F8 at 1/350 (+1 Compensation)
Focus: No special focus
This outcropping caught my eye and I really enjoyed
the texture and roughness of it against the soft
blue sky. I decided to mount the 28mm to get in
close to all the detail in the craggy sand. I did not think of it
as an "old woman" until I saw the slide. |

Yacht was moored at Punta Gorda mariner,
also 21mm with polarizer. |
Cypress
Picture's "Cypress" and "Cypress Message" were taken on a canoe
trip on the Peace River, FL using the 45mm w UV filter, as I was afraid to take
the risk of taking along my 90 and my 21 do to a possible canoe upset.
Fortunately the trip was uneventful. |
Cypress Message
I was not happy with the Portra's lack of range with
the high contrast shots taken on the Peace River.
The second roll may be better as those shots were
mostly taken in shade, or at least out of direct high noon sun. |
